Dentistry is not just a job for me, it’s my calling and my passion. At 2 years old, I was diagnosed with cancer.
From the three years that followed, I still have vivid memories of being in the hospital and seeing so many sick kids. For me and the other kids, the doctors and nurses were the real superheroes. They made the hospital a sanctuary and safe haven for each one of us.
Though I’ve been in remission since I was 5, it was an experience I’ll never forget. And, it powerfully shaped my future.
So for me, pediatric dentistry goes beyond smile care to include child psychology and overall wellbeing. That’s why it’s my personal passion to create a fun and adventurous experience for every little superhero I get to come alongside as a sidekick.
While serving as a pediatric specialist, he has added extensive training in sedation dentistry to his tool belt. In fact, Dr. Deep is the head of the sedation program for the pediatric residency at University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine! This advanced expertise allows him to help little Superheroes relax and have fun during their visits. He also served as the Chief Dental Officer for a large Dental Service Organization where he mentored and trained doctors in over 60 offices. Dr. Deep received the Head Start Oral Health Champion Award for his outstanding service and commitment to children’s oral health.
He loves spending time with his beautiful wife, their boys, and their dog. He also enjoys sports, working out, and dancing. Fun fact: Dr. Deep used to be a competitive dancer!
Dr. Deep was born in Mumbai and spent his early childhood in Alabama before planting his roots in the suburbs of Philadelphia. He earned his advanced dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Following graduation, he completed his pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.
One unforgettable day in King of Prussia, a bold and fearless five-year-old named Leo, strode into Dr. Deep’s dental refuge bearing his Captain America shirt – to Leo, it was more than a shirt, it was his superhero cape. He was ready to engage Dr. Deep and display his heroic valor during his checkup. Alas, Dr. Deep was far away in Florida training other dental heroes. Undaunted, Leo jumped on FaceTime to reach the good doctor. After a short mission briefing and a quick picture together, Dr. Deep encouraged Leo to seize the day. That beautiful moment, forever captured in an iconic photo, remains a cherished memory for Dr. Deep, and Superhero Leo.
